PDO-thread Lift
PDO threads reduce skin flabbiness and restore facial and body appearance without surgery.
The threads are made of polydioxanone, a material used to make surgical sutures that is bio-absorbable and absolutely safe.
There are monofilament, screw and cog threads. The first two types form a supporting mesh that lifts and supports tissues and augments face and body volume. The third one is an alternative solution for someone who wants to have a facelift but avoid a surgical procedure, since the cogs are placed into the skin and pull it in the desirable direction.
Threads are placed under the skin using special guiding needles containing them; once the threads are in place, the needles are removed. When threads degrade, a natural fibre collagen and elastin mesh is created. Thread biodegradation happens gradually and this is why skin lifting and tightening start becoming apparent two to three weeks later. Results last from one to one and a half years.
After the treatment there is usually mild irritation at thread entering points. If any bruising occurs, it usually disappears within a few days. The instructions you will be given after the treatment concern avoidance of intense mastication, pressure on the face and intense physical exercise for seven days.
At Clinic VIE we apply PDO threads on the forehead, between the eyebrows, on crow’s feet wrinkles, the neck, and the face and neck contour, where results are impressive, since lifting and tightening are achieved at one and the same time. In body areas, threads are applied in the arms, the abdomen (around the belly button), the buttocks and the inside of the thighs. Quite often, threads are combined with other treatments, such as injectable filling materials (hyaluronic acid), autologous PRP mesotherapy, radiofrequencies or Laser, for enhanced and long-term results.
These methods do not replace surgical lifting, but offer a very good alternative solution for women and men, with mild to significant flabbiness, who want to avoid a surgical procedure.
